Toothpastes would not be there in the post-carbon era as there would not be enough energy for running the machines. I have learnt that use of twigs of trees found naturally ensured there were few suffering the dental diseases. Now, recognising the important of these there are brands that have names such as Neem, Babool and Miswak for the toothpastes and these names for the brands has been chosen for cashing on the popularity of these twigs among the masses for centuries. There are many villages, where even now people do not use toothpastes but use the twigs for cleaning the teeth. Using Miswak among Muslims is popular following the Sunnah (practice) of prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). There were companions of the prophet who even used to carry the twigs in pockets and following there are many among practicing Muslims who carry miswak with them always and some even use in all the abulutions before prayers. These Muslims use the twigs (miswak) five times a day as there are five times salaats that are offered. Of course, there are times when abulution is not necessary between two or three prayer if the same has not broken through biological processes that make it necessary that a fresh abulution (Wuzu) is performed.
Here I am pleased to share a digital painting that I did for highlighting the importance of Neem and Babool for safeguarding dental health and communicating the importance of the use of Neem and Babool. God have provided these twigs everywhere , if we could replace the tooth pastes, it would be one the best contribution for reducing the energy consumption used in production and distribution of these pastes.
Using the twigs
There are some who might say whether these twigs would be there in plenty. Yes, we have them and we can use the same twig many time after crushing and chewing out the uses portion of the twig. This way we can clean teeth using the same twig several times rather than getting a fresh time, each time there is a need to clean the teeth.
